My design world
About
"Architecture is nothing but a kind of means which is invisibly lying in between the visible forms, recording the footprint of humans in the world of nothingness."

When I was five years old, “Mr Architect” was someone who demolished those friendly buildings in our community and replaced them with overbearing skyscrapers. I started thinking this way on the day when the only window of the room which housed our family of seven was blocked by a new building, butting up against our wall and after the air had been flooded with a burning asphalt smell for a week.
Fast forward many years and I was at my first job – a graphic trainee in an architectural firm, where I would be appointed to deal with those “to be amended” drawings by scraping the sepia with a blade! My interest to engage in the field of architecture / interior design was ignited at this time.
I established Kompass Creative Services Ltd. in 1993 and started my professional life as an interior designer. I made the decision to commence studying architecture after participating in the social movements spurred on by the Star Ferry demolition in Central in 2006.
I obtained my Bachelor of Architectural Science with distinction from Curtin University of Technology in 2015. I was awarded “Outstanding Student” in both the final years of my diploma (2012-2013) and Bachelor of Architectural Science (2014-2015) studies.
In autumn 2015, I entered the A&D Trophy Awards competition and was awarded a “Certificate of Excellence” in the Students Architecture category. The project was part of Curtin University's summer course and involved the building of a steel shelter which I titled “Barrier Breaker”. My design aimed to break various geographic barriers by offering suitable locales for dissimilar types of human activities along a scenic coastal path.

With the closing of the thesis exhibition in early July 2018, my Master of Architecture studies at the University of Hong Kong were completed. Since then, to integrate the knowledge that I have acquired into my career has been my ultimate aspiration.
